Newly elected president of  Rajasthan Youth Congress Ashok Chandna seems to be in deep trouble for allegedly being beneficiary of infamous Ganganagar illegal gun licence scandal. He is also facing the allegation from his rival for indulging  in fake voting in the elections of the organisation, held in last week of March.

According to officials sources, Chandna, who belongs to Bundi district, got licence for a pistol, on a fake address in Ganganagar city. Not only this, his father Deva Ram Gujjar, his mother Anit Gujjar and two other members of his family also got gun licences by submitting fake documents about their resident. His father, who was in jail under Defence of India Rule, got the licences by showing himself as resident of Ferozpur in Punjab.

In this seven-year-old illegal licences scandal, four RAS official, then posted in Ganganagar were suspended. Anti-corruption Bureau is yet to complete its probe in this multi-crore scandal. These officials issued the licences illegally for gratification.

“In this 2007 licence scandal, Ashok Chandna, his family members, including  his father and two brothers are accused. They are on bail. So far chargesheet has not been filed in the court as  probe is still going on,” says  Pushpendra Singh, ASP, head of the investigating team.

Meanwhile, Rajpal Sharma, who lost the race of president, alleged  on Wednesday   that Chandna and his supporters had indulged in  fake voting in at least seven districts.

Detailed collected by them show, total polling was much more  in these districts then the total number of members of Youth Congress in the area. Sharma, who is younger brother to Minister of State for Health Rajkumar Sharma said.

According to him, they would soon sent a complaint to FAME, an NGO headed by a former Election Commission, which was responsible for Youth Congress elections in the State.

Sharma also alleged that  Chandna’s election as Youth Congress president should  be declared illegal, as at the time of filing his nomination he hid the fact he was facing criminal charges in the licence scandal.

Not only that Chandna has shown himself as resident of Kekari, in Ajmer, to contest the elections of Zila Parishad, Sharma alleged.
