Raja Bhaiya not in CBI chargesheet

CBI sleuths made a surprise move when just a day after filing a writ to seek permission for polygraph test of Raghuraj Pratap Singh aka Raja Bhaiya, they submitted a chargesheet before the special court in the murder of Kunda DSP Zia-ul-Haq on Friday.

The name of former Food and Civil Supplies Minister in the Samajwadi Party Government, Raja Bhaiya, was missing from the chargesheet though he was an accused in the FIR filed by the slain officer’s wife Parveen Azad.

Sources, however, confirmed that the probe into the alleged role of Raja Bhaiya is still open as per the members of the team probing the matter and they might file a supplementary charge-sheet if his role surfaces at a later stage. The CBI earlier also filed a chargesheet in connection with murder of pradhan of Balipur hamlet, Nanhe Yadav.

Sources confirmed that the CBI has mentioned in the chargesheet that Suresh Yadav, brother of Nanhe Yadav, who was shot dead before Haq, was killed by gunshot from his own weapon in a scuffle which took place after the arrival of police at the crime scene. The CBI is said to have booked Babloo Yadav, son of Nanhe, his two brothers among others for allegedly killing DSP Zia-ul-Haq.

Haq was shot dead on March 2 in Balipur village in Kunda area of Pratapgarh district where he had gone to probe  the murder of village head Nanhe Yadav. Haq’s wife Parveen Azad had accused Raja Bhaiya of conspiracy after which he had to resign from the Cabinet on March 4.

The CBI has reportedly named 12 accused in the murder case of the DSP including slain village head Nanhe  Yadav’s son Yogender Yadav alias Babloo, his brothers Phulchand Yadav, Pawan Yadav and other neighbours and associates including Raghuvender Yadav alias Dablu, Manjeet Yadav, Ghanshayam Yadav, Ram lakhan Gautam, Chhote lal Yadav, Ram Ashre alias Panne, Munna lal Patel, Shiv Ram Passi and Jagat Bahadur Pal alias Bulle Pal.

Jagat Bahadur Pal alias Bhulle Pal is alleged to be a security guard of Raja Bhaiya. However, any association with him has been denied by the former Minister. In its charge-sheet, the CBI has said the then Circle Officer,  Kunda had gone to the house of Nanhe Yadav, Pradhan in order to deal with law and order situation arising out of the  murder of Nanhe Yadav.

The family members and supporters of Nanhe Yadav led by Suresh Yadav (since dead) assaulted the then CO and the other three police officials accompanying him.

It said the officer was caught and brutally assaulted by the accused persons but the three other police officials managed to escape.

During the scuffle, Suresh Yadav sustained gunshot injuries from his own gun with which he was hitting the then CO, Kunda while the accused persons assaulted and killed Haq.

On Thursday, the agency had moved an application in the court of special CBI judge Mirza Zeenat seeking permission to conduct polygraph test on the former Food and Civil Supplies Minister with his consent. The court has already fixed June 11 as the next date of hearing on the application.
