Heavy rain and gale have created serious problems for the election staff in Guntur district. The sudden rain led to a lot of hardship and disrupted the distribution of election material and EVMs. Guntur, Macharla and Tenali recorded heavy rain and winds which uprooted the tents where the election material was being distributed.
Meanwhile, YSRCP suffered a setback in Visakhapatanam lok Sabha constituency when the Jai Samakiya Andhra Party candidate and former MP Sabbam Hari announced retiring from contest and declared his support to the TDP-BJP alliance.Jagan’s mother Vijayalakshmi is contesting from this constituency against Hari Babu of the BJP. “If Jagan comes to power, there will be anarchy in the State,” Sabbam Hari said.
Sabbam is one of the Congress MPs who had supported Jagan’s party as soon as it was launched but later he turned against Jagan and joined JSP of former Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy.Earlier four Assembly candidates of JSP in Guntur district quit the contest and joined the TDP. They declared their support to the TDP candidate from Narsaraopet lok Sabha constituency in Guntur.
JSP’s candidate from Kanagiri Assembly constituency in Prakasham district Sheshadri Naidu also announced retirement from contest on Tuesday.
