Rahul tells State Cong leaders to raise local issues in Assemblies

Published on:

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday asked the State units to raise issues which could be against public interest in the State Assemblies similar to the way the party did in the just concluded Monsoon Session.

According to sources, Rahul Gandhi said that they were not allowed to speak in the Parliament hence they raised voices and stalled the proceedings of the House and took to streets in the larger interest of the people.

A day before the Congress Working Committee (CWC) which is likely to ratify extension of incumbent president Sonia Gandhi for another three years, Rahul met the Congress legislature Party (ClP) and State PCC office-bearers to discuss the party’s future strategy.

“He asked us to raise local issues which are against the welfare of the people in the non-Congress ruled States. He also asked to look out for alliance partners and take them into confidence for becoming longer political partners. Rahulji also asked to sort out the differences in State units especially in Haryana, Punjab and Odisha,” said a Congress leader.

The Congress is in power in only nine States, including Karnataka and Kerala.
