Rahul slams Modi for cheating farmers, failure to provide employment

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on failure to provide employment and cheating farmers on Goods and Service Tax (GST) and suggested that if the PM could do nothing to resolve these issues, he should pave way for the Congress which could come up with results within the next six months.

Rahul was addressing a gathering at Kathaura village in Jagdishpur area of his Parliamentary Contituency — Amethi, on Wednesday evening. Rahul started his three-day tour to his Parliamentary constituency on Wednesday.

“The BJP and RSS were running schemes ideated and started by us. Modi rejected MNREGA outrightly, but later saw merit in it. They opposed Aadhar, but now they are linking every scheme with it. Modi and the BJP opposed the introduction of GST and now they implemented it,” pointed out Rahul.

“We wanted to introduce a very simple GST where all problems of taxation would have been solved through one tax regime. The highest slab was not to be more than 18 percent. But Modi and his team failed to understand it. Now they have introduced a complicated form of GST and the highest tax slab is as high as 28 per cent which is causing problems to everyone. Instead of redressing trader’s problems on GST, Modi is blaming the Congress for the mess,” the Congress leader said.

Rahul also reminded how the PM cheated the nation by assuring two crore jobs to youths every year, Rs 15 lakh of black money being deposited in each account, 50 per cent profit to farmers over their production cost, waiving off loans etc.
