With the Special Protection Group (SPG) objecting to the plans of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to spend a night in a tribal hamlet of Adilabad district, the Congress leaders were forced to change his tour itineraries.

As per the new schedule, Rahul will now arrive in Hyderabad on May 11 instead of May 10 and spend the night in Hyderabad. He will undertake the Padyatra in Adilabad to meet the farmers on Tuesday. The SPG raised the objections to his stay in a remote hamlet in Nirmal sub-division of Adilabad in view of the recent reports of the Maoist activity in the region.

Soon after his arrival in Hyderabad, Rahul will meet a delegation of students of Osmania University under the banner of unemployed youth joint action committee. The students’ body wanted Rahul to visit Osmania University campus but now a delegation of 50 student leaders will meet him at the Shamshabad airport.

Telangana State Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said Rahul will meet the farmers at Toopran, Balkonda and Armoor on his way to Nirmal the next day. later, he will visit the tribal hamlets around lakshman Chanda in Adilabad and meet the five families of the farmers who committed suicide. “Rahul is undertaking the Padyatra to ensure justice to the farmers”, he said.
