Even as Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel foiled attempts by party workers to come near Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi at a roadshow in Bareilly, Rahul took on the ruling SP Ministers for ‘patronising’ criminals leading to a sharp dip in law and order.
During the roadshow, some Congress workers tried to hand over a memorandum to Rahul but were promptly prevented by the SPG personnel. This led to a sharp exchange of words between the two sides. A day before in Sitapur, a youth had thrown a shoe at Rahul which missed the target.
A local Congress leader also tried to force his way into Rahul’s bus but the SPG again foiled his attempt which again resulted in a scuffle.
In course of the road show, the Amethi MP visited a temple and a gurdwara in Cantonment area.
