Congress president Rahul Gandhi continued his all out attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his rallies in Mumbai — Karnataka region on Monday. He attacked the PM over Rafale deal and said “defence minister did not know about the agreement”.
“The Defence Minister was in Goa and buying fish when PM Modi was in France inking the Rafale deal. He didn’t even know about the agreement,” Gandhi said, in an apparent reference to Manohar Parrikar. In another rally at Saundatti reiterated his attack on colossal PNB scam and questioned ‘Why self proclaimed chowkidar was mum’ in an apparent reference to PM.
He said why the self-proclaimed “chowkidar” of the country was mum on the Punjab National Bank fraud and corruption allegations against BJP chief Amit Shah’s son Jay. Accusing the PM of favouring industrialists, Gandhi said despite the Centre hard selling its “zero corruption” stand, there was no lokpal appointed to fight graft. “Whatever you do, you do it for people like Nirav Modi”, he said.
“Demonetisation was a scheme to convert black money of rich people to white. Poor and middle class people stood in queues and deposited their money in banks. Cronies like Nirav Modi looted it and ran away right under the nose of ‘Chowkidaar’ Modi,” he added.
“You give thousands of crores money to super rich people in the country; while in Karnataka we give seven kg rice at free of cost to the poor,” he said.
Quoting 12th century social reformer Basaveshwara, Gandhi, who is on the second leg of his three-day tour of the poll-bound State, said, “Modij nudidante nade (practice what you preach).
“The country has not made you Prime Minister just to give speeches.”
Gandhi said Vyapam scam in MP has destroyed education system. He said “The Vyapam scam has destroyed the education system in Madhya Pradesh and the BJP Government is responsible for it.
He said “As Gujarat CM, Narendra Modi didn’t appoint lokayukta. It’s been four years as PM, but still there is no lokpal. Modi ji ‘Nudidanthe Nade’, Walk the Talk! People didn’t elect you as PM for just delivering speeches.”
The political heat in poll bound Karnataka has shot up this weekend as both tall leaders Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi are campaigning in the crucial battle.
The ruling Congress is trying to retain the State in the face of a massive BJP challenge.
