In view of yawning gap in the supply and demand of health services in the villages, Union Health Ministry on Thursday called upon private sector to set up medical facilities in semi-rural areas to ensure accessibility and also to make the services affordable.
Speaking at 13th India Health Summit 2016 organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Union Health Minister JP Nadda said that such an arrangement would help in plugging the healthcare gaps in the country and contribute to the vision of universal healthcare.
“I urge the private institutions to establish their outfits in semi-rural areas to ensure accessibility to people there and also make the cost of treatment affordable. At the same time, it should be an economically viable proposition for the hospitals also to function from such centres,” the Minister said.
