Punjab CM calls on Naidu, extends SAD support

In a move which could help consolidate the NDA ahead of the 2014 lok Sabha polls, Punjab Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) patron Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday called on former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Telegu Desham Party (TDP) supremo Chandra Babu Naidu at Andhra Bhavan in New Delhi.

Badal expressed concern over Naidu’s deteriorating health, who is on indefinite fast over Telangna issue. Badal’s visit is also seen as an

apparent attempt of the NDA, of which SAD is an integral part, to woo TDP.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Badal reiterated his party’s firm stand to oppose anti-people and anti-poor policies of UPA Government tooth and nail. “SAD would extend all

possible support and cooperation to the TDP against the arrogance of the Congress party,” he added.

Badal said Congress leadership was bent upon putting peace, communal harmony and integrity of the country in peril just for the sake of its narrow political ambitions.

He said that days of UPA Government were numbered as the countrymen had already been brewing with a lot of resentment against its anti-people policies on one hand and rampant corruption, administrative inability and political insensitivity on the other.
