Acting against the backdrop of Saturday’s disorderly demonstration of the Trinamool workers during the production of arrested Bengal Minister Madan Mitra before Alipore Sessions Court, the CBI was not ruling out shifting out the multi-crore Saradha chit fund case to any other State should letters written by it to the Commissioners of Police of Kolkata and Bidhannagar to make adequate arrangements go unheeded.
Doubly cautious after Saturday’s incident, the CBI on Monday wrote to the Commissioners of Kolkata and Bidhannagar Police to enhance security measures when the accused would be produced for the second time in Alipore Sessions Court on Tuesday.
The CBI had written to the Kolkata Police Commissioner in whose jurisdiction Alipore Court falls and Bidhanagar Commissioner under whose jurisdiction Mitra was currently lodged to provide adequate security, sources said adding Saturday’s incident had already been reported to the higher authorities in Delhi.
The Minister would be produced before the Court on Tuesday. On whether there was a possibility of the case being shifted to any other State, news agencies quoting CBI sources said there were ample chances of that happening “if the situation does not improve on December 16.” The Agency was particularly perturbed by the behavior of the rowdy crowd of thousands of Trinamool men that had literally blockaded the officers and the accused outside the court premises.
