The war of words between the BJP and the JD(U) on Friday got shriller when BJP leader and former Cabinet colleague of Nitish Kumar, Giriraj Singh, challenged the Chief Minister to prove charges of corruption leveled by a Bihar Minister against him. Giriraj Singh along with other party leader Ramadhar Singh and other sat on dharna outside the Bihar State legislature complex in protest.
JD(U) leader Manjit Singh had alleged that former BJP Ministers Giriraj Singh and Ramadhar Singh were involved in Rs100-crore scam in collusion with insurance companies. When Singh saw the Chief Minister walk up to the State Council way, he stood up and challenged him either to prove the charges of apologise. Giving company to Singh on his protest sit-in were senior BJP leaders Shushil Kumar Modi, Ashwani Kumar Choubey, Ramadhar Singh and Mangal Pandey. later, Giriraj Singh told mediapersons that if Nitish Kumar wanted he should order probe into allegations through any top investigating agency of the country.
JD(U) leader Mahachandra Singh, who recently deserted the Congress, and announced to contest the upcoming lok Sabha poll from Munger constituency, too visited the dharna site and said that before making such serious allegations one should think over it first. Earlier, JD(U) MlA Manjit Kumar Singh through a starred question had alleged inside the State Assembly that both the ex-Ministers had swindled Rs100-crore in collusion with insurance companies given tender to set up weather stations in 15 kms in the State to assess the loss of crop.
Taking the allegations on serious note the BJP leaders have been protesting both inside and outside the state legislature. "Now, there is no job for them except to sit on dharna and protest against the government of which they were part and parcel for the last eight years," over this any more", reacted JD-U leader Neeraj Singh.
