It was on this day exactly 11 years ago that a bomb exploded in the historic Mecca Masjid during the Friday congregation killing 9 people and injuring scores of others.
Soon after the Friday prayers in the mosque thousands of Muslims held a protest demonstration near Charminar against the failure of the Government agencies in bringing culprits to the book.
The angry protestors were also demanding that the Government should challenge the recent verdict of the NIA court acquitting five accused of the accused as the prosecution could not produce sufficient evidence.
the NIA special court had acquitted former RSS pracharak Aseemanand and four others of right wing Abhinav Bharat.
The protestors later dispersed peace fullly.
Police had made elaborate security arrangements around the Mecca Masjid in view of the anniversary of the blast.
Police commissioner Anjani Kumar monitored the situation.
As today was the first friday of Ramazan, the mosque witnessed a much bigger crowd of the worshippers.
