The RSS would hard sell the idea of integration of Dalits and their economic and social advancement in “Hindu society” from April 14 onwards during the celebration of 125th anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, one of the main architects of the Indian constitution.
“Progress of dalits is necessary to bring about social harmony. Obliterating caste identities is important so that a real unity is established among all sections of society”, sources in RSS said indicating that the dalit icon would be the focus of its activities in months to come.
The ideas of the dalit icon would be discussed and the Government would be sought to initiate new policies to ensure “justice” to socially weaker sections across the country. RSS network across the country would dilate on the issue at a number of functions, to be organised during Ambedkar’s birth anniversary celebrations, according to sources.
The RSS affiliated publications -Panchjanya and Organiser- are to bring out special editions on Ambedkar. “The alienation of dalits needs to be stopped and a sincere attempts need to be made to accord them share in power structure”, said leaders close to RSS outfits. The new initiative has nothing to do with politics or ensuing elections in Bihar, Bengal and Uttar Pradesh, they hastened to add.
RSS head Mohan Bhagwat had in the recent past spoken about bringing harmony in Hindu society by affectively uplifting the socially weakest sections in the country. The Sangh workers have been asked to reach out to dalit sections in the country and create awareness about their contribution to society over centuries.
In a token gesture towards dalit aspirations, the BJP at the Centre had recently approved a proposal to purchase the 2,050 sq feet bungalow in london, where Ambedkar once lived. The house will be converted it into an international memorial.
The issues of health, education, socially deprived sections would be picked up in another major function for discussion in Delhi from Aril 4 to April 6,when business tycoon Azim Premji, would also deliver a speech.
Besides, spiritual leaders Amma Amritanandamayi Devi, Jagadguru Shankrachary and film maker Subash Ghai and several scholars and academicians may also be in attendance there. Around 4,000 participants have been extended invitations to attend “the Delhi dialogue”, organised by RSS outfit ‘Sewa Bharti’.
Bhagwat is expected to inaugurate the meet with other senior RSS functionaries also participating in the deliberations. Several BJP leaders have also been invited to the function.
