Amid the accusations made by Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj against Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena of sabotaging health services and not filling up vacant positions, officials of Raj Niwas have claimed that the process for appointment of nearly 3,000 doctors and medical staff has already been initiated through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) with intervention of Saxena.
“Further, on LG’s initiative, the DSSSB had also begun the hiring of para-medical and nursing staff in Delhi Government hospitals. In all, the process for appointment or hiring of nearly 3000 Doctors and Medical Staff has already been initiated through UPSC or DSSSB, with intervention of LG,” an official stated.
Calling Bharadwaj ‘Delhi’s Press Conference (PC) Minister’, an official said that he has been weaving a web of lies on a daily basis to hide his and his government’s colossal failures. “This is being done very deliberately and as a pre-mediated exercise to not only mislead the people of Delhi, who are suffering due to mal-governance over a decade, but also the judiciary, which has started taking suomotu cognizance of mal-governance in various fields, especially health, sanitation and education,” he added
He said, “The minister on January 2 wrote to Chief Minister Kejriwal proposing to “recruit / hire Doctors (Specialists and Medical Officers) and paramedics against their respective vacant sanctioned posts on contractual basis for a period of one year or till regular incumbents join through UPSC / DSSSB, whichever is earlier”.” He requested Kejriwal to take up the matter with the LG to expedite the selection and appointment of Doctors and Paramedics and sought LG’s direction to the Health Department for hiring the Doctors on contractual basis.
Stating that this task of appointment of doctors is exclusively within the domain of the National Capital Civil Services Authority (NCCSA), he said that Kejriwal is the chairperson of the authority and if he had the intention to hire he would have immediately convened a meeting of the NCCSA and done the needful.
AAP party sources said that had Saxena hired the doctors and paramedics as is being claimed, there would have been no need for the Sarin Committee to recommend the hiring on Contractual basis.
