The Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded to carry out  a high level probe against the Congress leader and Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma who distributed cash and gifts in a programme organised by the Ministry of Steel in the State capital.

“Fearing defeat in the upcoming lok Sabha elections, on the one hand Congress-led UPA Government is busy in announcing poll-based polices and on the other a Union Minister is distributing Government funds for attracting voters,” said BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak here on Tuesday.

He said by lowering down prices of CNG-PNG, the UPA Government is trying to win hearts. Following party’s agenda Union Minister distributed cash and gifts in the name of Ispat Upbhogta Parishad. “The Congress took support of the Samajwadi Party at the Centre in return of money and now they think that they could buy the voters too. The party has made Beni Prasad Verma in-charge for this task,” he alleged.

Pathak demanded that a high level probe should be conducted into the expenses made by the Union Minister and it should be revealed that how much funds were used in organising the programme.

Attacking the SP, Pathak said the SP workers, without any fear are flaunting weapons  in political programmes. In the name of spreading awareness about Government’s achievements through cycle rally, the party workers are trying to intimidate people.

He alleged that the SP workers are flouting the law and order in the State. For taking action against the violators only assurances have been given but no action has been taken yet. In Etawah, two groups clashed and fired several rounds at each other. Despite all this, a compromise between the groups reached at the house of a SP leader.
