After drawing the flak from various quarters within the Muslim community, the United Muslim Forum, comprising of several Muslim organisations, has withdrawn its support from lok Satta president Jayprakash Narayan in Malkajgiri lok Sabha constituency over his pro-Narendra Modi stand.
Forum president Maulana Abdul Raheem Qureshi announced the change in the stand. “Earlier the Forum had announced its support to Jayprakash Narayan for his value-based politics but it was not aware of his support to Narendra Modi. Now, the Forum has decided to support the Congress candidate Sarve Satyanarayana in Malkajgiri. Our main aim is to stop the fascist elements from reaching the legislative bodies,” he said.Forum has announced the support to Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen candidates wherever they were in the fray. In other constituencies, it has asked the Muslims to support any secular candidate who could defeat the TDP-BJP alliance candidate.
Interestingly, the Forum has not announced support to the TRS. Maulana Qureshi said that TRS president K Chandrashekar Rao never kept his promises made to the Muslims and had got RSS member A Narendra elected to Parliament who was involved in many riots.
