Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Friday launched the party's election campaign in Himachal Pradesh by promising to take a decision for providing one lakh jobs and restoring the old pension scheme in the very first Cabinet meeting if the Congress was voted to power. She was addressing the 'Parivartan Pratigya Rally' in Solan just a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the hill state where he launched a slew of development projects in Una and Chamba.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Congress' Himachal unit president Pratibha Singh, Leader of Opposition in Himachal Assembly Mukesh Agnihotri, the party's election campaign committee chairperson Sukhvinder Sukhu, senior leader Rajeev Shukla and Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Pratap Singh Bajwa also addressed the rally.

Priyanka has earlier shouldered electoral responsibilities in Uttar Pradesh and  Assam is likely to lead the election campaign in Himachal as her sibling and former party chief Rahul Gandhi is engaged in his ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra, which has now completed almost a month.

Priyanka also alleged that 63,000 posts were lying vacant in the state but unemployed youths had not been provided jobs. She promised that five lakh jobs would be provided to unemployed youths in five years and announced a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 to women to help raise the standard of living.
