Even as the majority of Exit Polls predicted a poor show by Congress candidates in the just-concluded Assembly polls, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, however, appeared to be satisfied with the partymen saying that they fought hard.
In Lucknow to lead a march under her party's campaign - 'Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon' in Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka reacting to Exit Polls said, “We fought as hard as we could. We will wait and see the results.”
Meanwhile Congress leaders claimed that Priyanka had shed the maximum sweat among top leaders for over the last 45 days for the seven-phase UP Assembly election campaign.
“Despite the Exit Polls not making an encouraging prediction for the grand old party, Priyanka Gandhi held the maximum number of 209 rallies and roadshows during electioneering starting mid-January to enhance the party’s poll prospects.
If the number of rallies held by a party and its leaders is any indication of their efforts, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath almost matched Priyanka’s electoral efforts by holding 203 rallies and roadshows, but still fell short of efforts made by her alone,” senior UP Congress leaders claimed.
While Priyanka led her party from the front in a bid to regain its lost ground, her efforts were supplemented only by a virtual rally by her mother and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi when she addressed a virtual rally for party candidates in the fray from various Assembly segments of her Lok Sabha constituency - Rae Bareli.
Priyanka’s brother and former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi too made only guest appearances addressing barely two rallies — one in Amethi and the other in Varanasi.
