A court in Hyderabad has sentenced a private school principal to 10-year imprisonment for sexually abusing a student.

Mohammed Salahuddin Ayub, Principal of Parkwood School on the outskirt of Hyderabad, was found guilty of outraging modesty of a woman and criminal intimidation by the eighth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge on Friday.

Ayub was arrested by the Central Crime Station of Hyderabad Police in July 2010 on the complaint of a girl inmate of the school hostel that the principal had sexually abused her on many occasions from March till June 2010.

The girl, who is now studying in Italy had come to Hyderabad in September 2012 to record her statement before the Magistrate. Her testimony was also backed by the statements of her brother and step-mother. The girl had complained that the principal used to summon her to his office and subject her to sexual abuses.
