President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday said that women fail to be agents of change as their representation at decision-making levels in the country was very poor compared to global and regional standards.
Mukherjee said, “We have to mitigate the roadblocks which deprive women from becoming agents of change. If women are inadequately represented in the productive efforts of our economy, it not only prevents them from contributing to the well-being of their own families but also hampers social progress and retards the overall economic progress in the country.” He was delivering the 20th Justice Sunanda Bhandare Memorial lecture at Vigyan Bhawan.
