With sudden closure of nursery admissions in several schools on Monday, parents of students from the economically weaker sections (EWS) and disadvantaged groups are rather perplexed as most of them were unable to even get their respective income or caste certificates due to shortage of time.
Though admissions began on December 20, the Directorate of Education (DoE) issued clarifications regarding EWS/DG admissions and the need for respective certificates on December 26, giving parents no time to prepare the necessary documents. “However, the certificates would take at least 21 days to come, while the income certificate takes 21 days from the date of application, it takes 45 days from the date of application for the caste certificate. Thus, private schools are giving a window of only 15 days to fill out forms,” said a parent.
