As part of an exercise to operationalise two airports in coastal Konkan region, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the newly constructed terminal building at Chipi airport in Sindhudurg on Tuesday, while an MoU would be signed for activating RCS-UDAN operations at Ratnagiri Airport later in the day.
Ahead of the twin developments, Prabhu said that the Government would operationalise the Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri airports at the earliest to boost tourism and economy of the Konkan Region.
On Tuesday, Prabhu will inaugurate the newly constructed terminal building and associated works of Chipi Airport in Sindhudurg in the presence of CM Fadnavis.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 520 crore, the newly constructed Terminal Building at Chipi airport in Sindhudurg has a capacity to handle 400 passengers per hour and it has an annual passenger handling capacity of about 10 lakh.
