'Power star' Pavan's Jana Sena launch today

Popular Telugu film star Pavan Kalyan, known as “Power Star” and “Dabbang of Telugu films”, will launch his political party “Jana Sena” in a great style on Friday.

Pavan, younger brother of film star-turned-Union Minister K Chiranjeevi, will speak at the inauguration of the party at Hitex Grounds in Hyderabad and the event will be beamed live to the legions of his fans across the State. The star will be presenting his political thoughts, his party’s ideology and programmes and also unveil the symbol of his party.

To maximise the impact of the inaugural event, organisers  have arranged live telecast of the event at 28 places across the State where people can gather and listen to the star on big screens.

New party’s name “Jana Sena”, which the famous film director Ram Gopal Varma lauded as the best possible name and better than “Shiv Sena”, was announced by Pavan Kalyan through Facebook.

According to the sources close to the star, he has already applied to the Election Commission for the registration of the party’s name. But what could come as a dampener for his plans is the fact that the procedure of registering a new party with the EC takes a minimum of three to four months and Pavan was unlikely to have a registered party before the elections.

But given the tremendous popularity of the actor, observers say that it can upset the calculations of many political parties specially in coastal Andhra region. In a way Pavan will be throwing a challenge at his elder brother Chiranjeevi who will be heading the campaign of the beleaguered Congress party in Seemandhra region. like Chiranjeevi and many other leaders, Pavan will also be targeting his efforts to woo the numerically powerful Kapu community to which he belongs.

Sources said that Pavan Kalyan was keen on contesting from Kakinada lok Sabha constituency in East Godavari district.
