Posters in Morena push for Scindia as CM

Published on:

The appearance of provocative posters in Morena demanding Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia be made the Chief Minister has once again thrown light on growing discontent among his supporters within the BJP. The posters, displayed at Barrier Chauraha, carried a bold message: “Make Maharaj Saheb Jyotiraditya Scindia the Chief Minister, otherwise be prepared for consequences.”

The campaign, issued under the name of Bhagwan Das Tyagi of the Sant Samaj Seva Samiti, has sparked heated political debate in Madhya Pradesh.

Although the district administration termed it a local issue and initiated inquiries, the larger political signal is hard to ignore. Only a few days ago, Scindia loyalist and former MLA Raghuraj Kansana had openly expressed frustration, alleging that BJP ministers and MLAs do not pay heed to Scindia’s camp.

His remarks had high-lighted a growing sentiment among Scindia’s supporters—that despite playing a crucial role in bringing the BJP back to power in 2020, their voices are being ignored.

The Morena posters, therefore, are being seen not merely as a publicity stunt but as a reflection of a deeper unease.

Scindia’s supporters feel suffocated in the current power structure of the ruling party.  While Scindia himself was rewarded with a berth in the Union Cabinet, many of his loyalists complain that they have been sidelined, both in terms of political recognition and decision-making at the state level.

The posters appeared just a day after Scindia’s visit to Morena, where he announced major development projects, including airport expansion and a `500 crore agriculture scheme. While these announcements reinforced his stature as a leader capable of delivering resources, they also sharpened the sense of contrast between his personal political growth and the stagnation felt by his followers in the BJP hierarchy.

Opposition parties, especially the Congress, have been quick to seize on these developments, accusing the ruling BJP of internal contradictions. Political observers believe the repeated expressions of discontent from Scindia’s camp are unlikely to fade quietly, especially with Assembly elections on the horizon.

The episode has put the BJP leadership in a delicate position. On one hand, Scindia remains a significant political asset with influence in the Gwalior-Chambal belt. On the other, his supporters’ grievances risk undermining the image of party unity.

The assertive tone of the Morena posters — carrying even veiled threats — shows that the loyalists are no longer content with mere symbolic gestures.

As the countdown to elections begins, the simmering discontent among Scindia’s camp may emerge as one of the biggest internal challenges for the BJP in Madhya Pradesh. For now, the message from Morena has made it clear: Scindia’s followers are unwilling to remain on the margins, and their demand for greater recognition is set to test the resilience of the ruling party’s internal balance.
