JAMMU: A woman from Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir has gone missing and is suspected to have crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) along with eight goats, officials said.
Rubina Kousar, a resident of Karni village near the LoC, took the animals out for grazing on Friday but did not return home by evening, according to officials.
Preliminary information suggests that she may have crossed the LoC with the livestock. However, officials said it was not immediately clear whether she crossed the heavily guarded boundary inadvertently while grazing the goats or did so deliberately.
Authorities are awaiting further information to establish the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
Several families living in villages along the LoC have relatives across the divide in PoK, officials pointed out, adding that this could make it difficult to determine the circumstances of a suspected crossing.
Further details about the woman's whereabouts and the status of the eight goats were awaited.
