Naxalite-turned-land mafia leader Nayeemuddin was killed in an alleged encounter with the police on August 8 and Krishnaiah’s name was among the names of a number of political leaders of different parties found in the diaries recovered from Nayeem’s dens.
Krishnaiah had also admitted before media that he had closely known Nayeem from the days when he was a member of the Radical Students Union.
Krishnaiah was summoned to the Narsingi police station in Cyberabad Commissionerate where the Inspector General of Special Investigations Team Nagi Reddy questioned him regarding a land settlement case in Mahdapur area of Hyderabad.
Krishnaih said that Nayeem used to treat him as his “Guru”.
“But I had nothing to do with his activities”, he added.
Earlier Krishnaiah had said, “in 1986 when he was in Rdical Students Union Nayeem used to visit me as I was then leading the students’ agitation by various organisations. Then he had become by protégé but I had nothing to do with his subsequent activities”, he said.
Special Investigations Team (SIT) constituted by the State Government after Nayeem’s death was looking in to his massive land dealings and extortions and other criminal activities and trying to unearth his empire believed to be worth thousands of crores of rupees. The police were also looking into his alleged links with the politicians of all hues.
While coming out of the Narasingi police station Krishnaiah told the media that the Telangana Government was trying to frame him for the sake of publicity and to defame him.
“The police questioned me about my interviews to the media in which I had clearly stated that Nayeem was my protégé as a student activist. But I had no knowledge of his other activities”.
The police did not ask me to come again for questioning, he said.
