For empowering schoolgirls, northwest district police have launched a drive called ‘Operation Nirbheek’ in which a female police official of the concerned police station will guide the schoolgirls to come forward and raise voice against violence or crime against them. A designated woman police official visited Prabhu Dayal Public School in Shalimar Bagh and encouraged the girls to express freely and unhesitatingly, said a police officer.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Singh (northwest) said: “The operation ‘Nirbheek’ is an initiative to spread awareness in girls and co-ed school to educate girl students about various aspects of sexual offences of which innocently or inadvertently they become victims.”
To instill confidence in them and report to police for legal action, the drive will prove very helpful. The woman officer will guide them to raise their voices, Singh said.
