PM's Ranchi visit: SPG takes stock of security

A team of Special Protection Group (SPG) on Sunday visited Prabhat Tara Ground to take stock of the ongoing preparations ahead of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will be addressing a public gathering in Ranchi on Thursday to inaugurate India’s one of the largest power grid at Bedo about 29 km from the State capital Ranchi.

The SPG team along with the officials of Power Grid Corporation of India limited (PGCIl), also visited the site at the under construction High Court campus where three helipads are being prepared for the PM to land. Modi will be accompanied by the SPG under tight security up to the stage being erected at Prabhat Tara Ground for the function.

According to sources in the police department, the four member SPG team has given some directions to the organisers in order to ensure foolproof security during his visit. As per the protocol, the stage will be surrounded by the security personnel in various layers in a radius of 60 meters. No one will be allowed to venture within the radius of 60 meters from the stage.

The SPG also directed to make some changes in the under construction PCC road being built for Modi from Prabhat Tara School to the main stage. The sources also told that a makeshift air conditioned room will also be built near the helipad for giving him space to relax during the visit. The stage is being prepared by the people who have especially been called from Delhi. The SPG team also talked to them and passed some instructions.

People living in the locality however, are quite excited over Modi's visit this time and are trying to make them free on Thursday to hear his speech. "This is a special occasion as it will be his first visit to Ranchi after being elected as Prime Minister of India and we will ensure that we do not miss his live speech here at Prabhat Tara Ground," said a local resident near Prabhat Tara ground Deepak Kumar.
