'PM's pro-poor steps stonewalled by TN'

The BJP on Wednesday launched its campaign for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election with party all-India president Amit Shah  describing the AIADMK-led Government as the most corrupt Government in the country.

Addressing a mammoth election rally at Tiruchirappalli, Shah lambasted the Jayalalitha Government  for not cooperating with the Union Government in implementing a series of welfare measures launched by the Narendra Modi Government targeting the poor and downtrodden in the country.

“The Narendra Modi Government is committed to the welfare of the villages, the poor and the working class.I am confident the people in Tamil Nadu would prefer the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in the May 16 Assembly election,” said Shah.

He came down heavily on the Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK Government for not implementing the UDAY, launched by the Modi Government to help the debt-ridden distribution companies and electricity boards. “People should remove this corrupt Government and give the NDA a chance to serve them. The AIADMK Government is not allowing the Union Government to reach the people of Tamil Nadu to help them get cheap and assured power supply and also a host of other benefits,” said Shah.

Shah also announced the names of alliance partners in the NDA in Tamil Nadu. The IJK led by Patchamuthu, owner of the SRM University  and SRM Bus Service, AIMKMK  (a hitherto unheard political entity), KJK (a Gownder community outfit), and MMK are the  constituents of the Tamil Nadu NDA.

While the IJK will contest in 45 seats, the AIMKMK has been allotted 24 seats. The KJK led by G K Nagaraj has been given two seats and the MMK one seat.
