Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore on Monday said the Ministry is probing into the posting of a morphed picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Facebook and Twitter by a journalist working with a private TV channel. The fake post created by the journalist had Modi touching the feet of King of Saudi Arabia leading to anger on social media.
BJP MP Maheish Girri demanded action from I&B ministry on the incident. Responding to Girri's tweet, Rathore said, "Dear Shri MaheishGirri Ji, I have instructed MIB_India to review the violations."
Rathore added in his tweet that he would also seek help of Communications and IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in this regard.
Meanwhile, BJP also complained to Delhi Police Cyber Cell against Raghav Chopa, the journalist involved in the morphing of PM's picture in bad taste. Chopra in the morning expressed regret for his act in a tweet, saying "I sincerely regret posting a morphed picture of the PM on my Facebook page. I should have also verified its authenticity before tweeting it."
"I apologise to everyone concerned for this unfortunate error on my part," he said in another tweet.
The CNN-IBN TV Channel, where Chopra works as news editor, also expressed regret. "Our colleague Raghav Chopra through his personal Twitter handle and Facebook page put out a morphed picture of the PM. The organisation was not aware of this unfortunate lapse of judgement. We apologise to everyone for this confusion & deeply regret the error," the channel tweeted.
