Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged people to make the International Yoga Day, scheduled for June 21, a mass movement. In his facebook post, Modi appealed participation from all quarters to make the International Yoga Day, a big success.
“Friends, 21st June…I am sure you remember. The first ever International Day of Yoga will be observed on that day. The entire global community has come together in support of celebrating this day.
“Now, that strong support has also turned into immense enthusiasm. I am seeing several people and organisations across the world are working towards making the first ever International Day of Yoga a memorable event. Together lets make Yoga a mass movement connecting people, strengthening the bonds of humanity. In the run up to 21st June I would also be sharing a post daily, covering various aspects of Yoga,” said Prime Minister.
The United Nations had in December last year declared June 21 as the International Yoga Day, with 177 countries voting in favour. The proposal had been mooted by Modi during his first address to the UN General Assembly in September last year.
