PM to UP MPs: Stop taking favours from CM

Published on:

Interacting with the BJP MPs from Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asked them to desist from taking favours from the Chief Minister for transfers and posting of officials and instead work with the State MlAs “as a team” to transform the State where the party has made a comeback after 15 years.

Modi said the UP Government should be allowed to focus on delivering good governance and not to be bogged down by  favour seekers.

In a customary meeting with the MPs taking place for last three years  over breakfast, Modi said the party has received a huge mandate to serve the people   and thereby  wanted to give them a corruption-free Government.

“Modiji said that the party’s MPs and MlAs from the State need to work as a team. The Prime Minister also made it clear that a clear mandate has been given to the BJP  to work hard and not to enjoy,” said an MP after the meeting .

Prime Minister praised MPs for working hard in the poll campaign in UP and sought them to continue to be active in  serving  the people.

The meeting at Prime Minister’s residence was attended by BJP President Amit Shah, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar and senior party leader Murli Manohar Joshi.

According to the BJP, Prime Minister said UP needs to be pulled out from its ‘Bimaru’ status and called for an all round development in the State which could be visible to the people.

It was the first meeting of Modi  with  UP MPs after BJP’s sweeping victory in the State.  In days to come Prime Minister will be holding five such more meetings with MPs from other States.
