PM to roll out big-ticket schemes for Mathura

A day ahead of marking one year of his Government at the Centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a massive rally in Mathura on Monday where he is expected to announce some big-ticket development schemes for the religious city.

The PM’s speech is expected to be telecasted live in over 130 countries.

Meanwhile, amid the preparations for Modi’s rally, security agencies and district administration went into a huddle after a message threatening to kill the Prime Minister reached the police and media.

The Uttar Pradesh Police  have, however, identified the sender of the message and his brother has been taken into custody.

On May 20, several people, including SSP Rakesh Singh and some media personnel, had received a WhatsApp message, following which the sender’s mobile number was immediately put under surveillance, police officials said.

SSP Singh said the sender has been identified as Ramvir, a resident of Navli village, and a team under Superintendent of Police (City) has been constituted to nab him. The letter reportedly threatened an explosion at the rally ground.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh BJP has sought help of  Haryana and Rajasthan BJP units to  make Modi’s rally “ a huge success”. BJP UP chief laxmikant Bajpai, along with other senior party leaders from the State, visited the venue to take stock of the arrangements on Sunday.

The rally ground — Deen Dayal Dham — has the capacity to accommodate over one lakh people.

“TV screens are being installed so that people can see and hear the prime minister. The rally will be telecast live to over 130 countries,” according  a BJP leader.

Modi is expected to arrive at a helipad in  Mathura at 3.45 pm on Monday. He will spend some time at the memorial of Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader Deen Dayal Upadhyay.

BJP MP from Mathura and former film actress Hema Malini has hoped Prime Minister would declare infrastructural developmental schemes for the religious tourist city while addressing the public rally.

In the backdrop of reported threats, police and security agencies have made elaborate arrangements at the venue of public meeting with senior cops regularly reviewing the security preparedness.
