Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the 13.5 km long Khapri-Sitabuldi section of the Nagpur Metro, by digitally unveiling a plaque marking the occasion.
Addressing the gathering present through video conference after flagging off the first section of the Nagpur Metro, Modi said: “The dream of the people of Nagpur, of having a metro has now been fulfilled. I congratulate the people of the city for this feat. It is a special moment for me. It gives me a kind of double happiness today. Because, it was I who laid the foundation stone for this project in 2014 and now I have the honour of inaugurating the first section of the Nagpur Metro five years later on behalf of my Government at the Centre”.
The Nagpur metro is the second metro service in Maharashtra, after the one in Mumbai. Nagpur is the second capital of Maharashtra.
