BJP national president Amit Shah was likely to hold party rallies in Bengal sometime in December, the State leadership said here on Thursday. Shah who was scheduled to come to Kolkata on November 30 would now come in the second half of December, the State leadership said.
“We held a meeting with our national leadership in Delhi on November 6. It was decided that our party president Amit Shah will hold rallies in the districts in December,” State BJP president Rahul Sinha said as he lashed out at the Trinamool Congress Government for unleashing a “goonda raj” in Bengal in order to win elections.
“We have divided the State into seven clusters and he (Shah) will address public meetings in each of them,” the BJP leader said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also likely to come to Kolkata in January, the party sources stated. He is likely to come on January 12, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The Prime Minister would attend the Vivekananda birth anniversary function to be organised by the Ramakrishna Mission. Modi has been an ardent follower of Ramakrishna Paramhansa and his disciple Swami Vivekananda.
Apart from Shah senior leaders like Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley were also likely to hit the poll campaign in the State sometime in January. Bengal's Assembly election is scheduled to take place in April-May next year.
