Stung by Aam Aadmi Party’s spectacular performance in Delhi Assembly polls, the Government on Tuesday said it was serious on passing the lokpal Bill during the current session of Parliament.
PM Manmohan Singh called-up anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, who began his indefinite hunger strike on Tuesday, and assured him headway in the lokpal Bill. The Bill is stuck in the Rajya Sabha despite being passed in the lok Sabha. Earlier, Union Minister V Narayanasamy confirmed this on Tuesday even as Hazare began his indefinite fast to get his Janlokpal Bill passed in Parliament.
“As far as the lokpal Bill is concerned I have given notice to Chairman Rajya Sabha for taking up the lokpal Bill....Government is taking all sincere step to pass the lokpal Bill,” he told reporters.
