The Central Government will provide all necessary assistance to Uttarakhand to tackle the situation created by incessant rains and natural disaster.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said this while discussing disaster relief works with CM Vijay Bahuguna on the telephone. Singh expressed grief at the loss of life and property caused by the natural disasters and empathised with the bereaved families.
He assured Bahuguna that the Union Government will help Uttarakhand deal with the damage, adding that he had directed the Cabinet secretary to remain in constant touch with the Uttarakhand chief secretary for information on the rescue and relief works, based on which the Union Government will assess the damage and provide all possible assistance to the State.
