With the police arresting two persons on the charges of conspiring to plant 10 kgs of ganja in the residence of a Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader, senior Congress leader D Sridhar Babu is finding himself in trouble.

Two supporters of former Minister Sridhar Babu, O Sudarshan and Bhargava were arrested by the Chikkadapally police in Hyderabad after it was revealed that the two were planning to frame a TRS leader of Karimnagar P Kishan Reddy by leaving 10 kgs of ganja at latter’s place.

The police has named Sridhar Babu as an accused in the case. The conspiracy came to light when the recording of an alleged telephonic conversation between Sudarshan and Sridhar Babu was leaked and it reached the TRS leader Kishan Reddy.

Chikkadapally police station inspector Sudarshan Reddy said that the recording of the discussion between Sridhar Babu and his supporter was set for the forensic examination. “We will take further action on the basis of the report,” he said. The two arrested accused were sent to judicial custody.

Police said the conspiracy to plant ganja was the fallout of a land dispute between Sudarshan and Kishan Reddy in Odedu village.

Meanwhile, the State Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged political vendetta behind the name of Sridhar Babu as an accused in the case.

Talking to the media he said the ruling TRS was targeting Sridhar Babu as he was fighting for the farmers affected by Kaleahwaram irrigation project in Karimnagar.

"Now they have resorted to foisting false cases against Congress leaders to browbeat them. But we will not succumb to the pressure. We will fight against the anti people and anti farmer policies of TRS government", he said.

Another senior Congress leader from Karimnagar T Jeevan Reddy said that Sridhar Babu was named as an accused in the case though there was no evidence against him.
