Ahead of a Presidential Reference, likely to be filed in Supreme Court next week, seeking removal of Justice AK Ganguly in the sexual harassment episode, a fresh petition has added twist to the tale by seeking immediate stoppage on all action against the former SC judge by claiming he was a victim of a criminal conspiracy.
The petition filed by a senior medical practitioner M Padma Narayan Singh, claiming to be a conscious citizen of India was mentioned before a bench headed by CJI P Sathasivam on Friday. The court decided to hear the matter on Monday. The petition even attacked those seeking the resignation of Justice Ganguly following a law intern’s charge that she was sexually harassed by the judge in December 2012 while in a hotel where he was deciding an arbitration matter between Mohan Bagan football league and All India Football Federation.
The petitioner, who claimed to be the daughter of a former judge, appeared in person to level a serious charge against the intern and ASG Indira Jaising for supporting the said intern by raising “media propaganda”. Since Ganguly presided over the dispute between Mohan Bagan and AIFF where a decision was taken by the latter to slap a Rs 2 crore fine on Mohan Bagan for walking out of a game of football, the petitioner claimed that a conspiracy was hatched by the football league to extract the money from AIFF.
It said, “In this well planned criminal conspiracy against Justice AK Ganguly, the Mohan Bagan has used the said female intern who had prepared the case report…” She even sought cancellation of advocate licence of Indira Jaising for being part of the “collusive conspiracy” to extract money. Interestingly, neither AIFF nor Mohan Bagan have been made party to the petition.
