Braving some uncomfortable questions from the defence lawyer in the much-discussed August 22 gang-rape case, the 22-year-old photojournalist on Friday completed her in-camera testimony on the fourth day of the ongoing trial, even as the same court framed charges against four accused in the second Shakti Mills gang-rape case.

A day after she fainted during her four-hour-long deposition in which she identified four of the five culprits who allegedly gang raped her in the defunct Shakti Mills compound at Mahalaxmi in south-central on the evening of August 22, the victim girl completed her testimony.

“The rape survivor was in a better physical condition today and she completed her deposition. Since her voice was not audible, the court provided her with a microphone. She was composed all through until a defence lawyer asked her about the duration of the sexual assault. She replied angrily that she wasn’t following how much time it went on,” Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said.

In her Thursday’s deposition, the rape survivor — had identified the four charge-sheeted accused — Salim Ansari, Vijay Jadhav, Mohammed Kasim Hafiz Shaikh alias Kasim Bengali, and Siraj Rehman Khan — whom the Prosecution produced in the court. The fifth accused, who is a “minor” is being tried separately in Juvenile Justice Court.
