Peter brought to Delhi for further grilling

The CBI, which on Tuesday brought media baron Peter Mukerjea, accused in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case, to the national capital subjected him to further grilling. But over the next couple of days, its questioning will intensify when it will conduct a lie-detection and brain mapping test on him at the Central Forensic Science laboratory here. The CBI has Peter’s custody till Thursday.

The CBI has alleged that Peter had a prior knowledge of Bora’s murder. CBI officials remained tight-lipped about the reasons behind the sudden move to shift him but sources said Mukerjea will be further examined here by a team of officials from the Special Crimes Unit.

A team of officials of the Special Task Force of the agency escorted him here from Mumbai early on Tuesday, sources said

Sheena (24) was Indrani’s daughter from an earlier marriage. Sheena’s mother Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamvar Rai have been chargesheeted by CBI for the her murder that took place on April 2012 and are in judicial custody in Mumbai.

Peter was arrested on November 19 and granted CBI custody till November 26 by a special court in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, a medical report appended with the chargesheet reveals that Bora died due to asphyxia as a result of strangulation.

The report was prepared by a five-member medical board formed by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

“Death in this case is due to asphyxia as a result of strangulation by the way of ligature or manual cannot be ruled out,” said the report.

The report also said the human skeleton, sent for examination and believed to be of Sheena’s, was of a female aged about 23. It put the time of death at about three years ago.

These details broadly matched with Sheena, who was aged 24 at the time of her murder in April 2012.

The report maintained that the body was recovered from a remote place and was suggestive of discrete disposal of corpse and concealment of prime evidence (body).

“The deceased had skeletal burns (burning of bones) which is only feasible in the case of deep burns. It is observed that there were

pan-body burns over skeleton, which suggests the extent of burns were massive and

intention was to destroy the whole body to conceal the prime evidence of death investigation.”

Sheena was allegedly strangled in a car and then her body was burnt and dumped in a forest in Raigad, about 84 km from Mumbai.
