Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday hit out at the BJP Government saying it was not going to last beyond six months as the people of the country had read through their bluffs and would throw them out of power in the next year’s general elections.
Though the Chief Minister made no direct remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech at Bhopal from where he attacked the Trinamool Congress — an important part of the `19-party anti-BJP alliance — for its alleged involvement in a plethora of scams that could breach Rs 24,000 crores mark, Banerjee said the BJP leaders were feigning secular by reaching out to the minority communities sensing defeat in the parliamentary elections.
Mamata was addressing a panchayat election rally at Jalpaiguri in North Bengal. “The next Lok Sabha polls will be held in February–March … which means the BJP government will not last beyond that period,” because their anti-people policies and vindictive approach had angered the entire nation. She said that the BJP leaders were Sensing defeat which was why they were trying to clean their image by sharing pictures with some richer members of the Muslim community but “that will not yield any price because they Muslims are only businessmen and do not care about the poor and downtrodden.”
Attacking the Modi Government for hiking prices of all the essential commodities she said, “it is an irony that the rice that the people get for Rs 2 per kg has to be boiled on a gas that they have to purchase for Rs 1,200 … when you raise such uncomfortable questions they will shut your mouth … they will stop central funds,” adding, “you can stop funds, you can stop projects but you cannot stop us from telling the truth … you have been exposed … your lies have been exposed and you will be thrown out of power after six months.”
Reacting to the Modi’s Bhopal remarks TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, “before blaming the Trinamool Congress the Prime Minister should have considered the conduct of his tallest leader in Bengal who is one of the FIR named accused in Narada scam … similarly there are many other leaders in the BJP who are big scamsters … But the Prime Minister is blind to them.”
Claiming that the BJP’s balloon had burst, Ghosh said, “Modi and his generals had broken all records of too-and-fro-journey to Bengal in 2021 but were miserably defeated … they know that they are going to face the same fate this time round … so whatever he said was a panic reaction … he is extremely afraid after seeing secular forces uniting nationally… and so he is making such meaningless statements.”
Elsewhere, TMC second in command Abhishek Banerjee too launched a blistering attack on the Prime Minister saying he should change his mindset adding “his mindset is taking him away from the people.”
