Threat of additional burden on the people of Gujarat is looming as the State Government has not only proposed mammoth salary hike of 80 per cent in salaries and perks for the Council of Ministers but also recommended for enormous increase in their tour and other expenses.
Doles are not limited for the ruling party only. The Government has also proposed increase in the expenditure of the leader of Opposition. The BJP-ruled Government will obviously get support of Opposition Congress as there is a proposal of 34.46 per cent hike in the salaries of (MlAs. Going by the history of hiking pay packages of MlAs in Gujarat, lawmakers of both the major parties — the Congress and the BJP always came to consensus and bills passed without any resistance.
