Ending speculation about the fate of the missing Pawan Hans chopper, special mountain-trained personnel of the Gorkha Unit and paratroopers of the Army on Wednesday recovered the three bodies from a remote jungle in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The bodies are believed to be of Tirap Deputy Commissioner Kamlesh Joshi, and the two pilots flying the ill-fated Pawan Hans Dauphin helicopter, which went missing mid-air on August 4.
The chopper carrying the Tirap DC was on a routine sortie from Khonsa to longding and it was supposed to return to Mohanbari Airport in Dibrugarh, when the incident took place.
The search and rescue teams, which had been desperately looking for the chopper, spotted the wreckage and the mutilated bodies of the three persons in a deep gorge in a remote forested area in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi said that it will take time to recover the bodies due to the hilly terrain, where the rescue team have spotted the wreckage and the mutilated bodies.
A statement issued by the Army said that the Army personal using special mountaineering equipment have reached the deep gorge where the Pawan Hans helicopter with three persons on board crashed after taking off from Khonsa.
