Faith in the medical fraternity suffered a severe blow on Thursday when a woman undergoing medical treatment at a private nursing home was allegedly raped by a compounder employed with the nursing home.
The accused which went traceless after committing the crime surrendered to the police in the afternoon.Interestingly, doctors of the nursing home doubted the ability of the woman to testify because of her weak physical condition. Police is still awaiting medical report to confirm the incident. The accused has not confessed to the crime.“The accused surrendered claiming that he has not committed the crime. Moreover, doctors also claim that the woman cannot testify correctly under the present condition,” said Kanke police station in-charge, Sukra Oraon.
According to the complainant, the woman who is said to be around 26 years of age and resident of Sukarhuttu was admitted to a nursing home at Kanke to receive treatment for malaria.Around 2.30 am on Thursday the accused sent her relative to purchase medicine for the woman and in the meantime administered sedative to her to commit the crime. The compounder fled the spot after committing the crime, said the victim’s relative.
