Apparently jubilant over the upper court’s order, Hardik Patel indicated that he would carry out an indefinite fast from August 25 next to mark the third anniversary of the first mega-rally of Patidar community in 2015 at Ahmedabad’s GMDC ground. In fact the rally was turning point for the young Patidar leader and instantly put him on the national political stage. The rally in 2015 turned violent and in the next 3-4 days at least 14 Patidar youth lost their lives.
Patel wanted to hold the rally on 25th August, 2018 at the same venue – GMDC ground. However the State Government unlikely to give him permission for this and knowing the fact he said that there were 11 other grounds in Ahmadabad.
He said that on Friday he would meet Ahmedabad police commissioner to get permission for one of the grounds.
