India quickie Muhammad Shami continued to receive yorkers from his estranged wife Hasin Jehan who made it clear to the ace pace bowler that any talk of reconciliation would arise only when he publicly apologised for the “sins you have committed by touching other women despite having your own legally married wife.”
Jehan — shown by a Bengali channel responding to a WhatsApp call from her husband, currently stationed somewhere in UP — told Shami in a raised voice that “We can sit for talks only when you will accept your sin before the media and police.” She said so after an apparently subdued cricketer enquired from her as to “what I have to do nowIJ”
She promptly retorted, “Don’t you know what you have done and don’t you know what you should have done. You simply have to give me the respect that I a legally married wife of yours deserve.”
When Shami asked back “when have I not showed you respect and when have I neglected you,” Jehan who later said that she is being consistently “nagged and threatened” by the cricketer for compromise replied “you crossed all the limits of sleaze and now you are talking of compromise for the sake of the family!”
When Shami said that he wanted an amicable settlement across the table “for the sake of the family, the child and love” she hit back saying “Janeman (darling) is this the way a husband shows love to her wife by touching other women and doing dirty things with themIJ Do you know what love is” and added “now things have crossed all limits and the whole world knows about this so let the police, the court and the society settle the issue for us.”
She also told him to “swear by your dead father that you have not done bad things” and reminded “I am also concerned about the family and the child but in the given circumstances talks will take place only after you have to accept your fault before the police and the media.”
Jehan alleged that Shami was trying to “play game with me because he has now to answer the police, the Board. This is why he called me up on the WhatsApp so that I cannot record his audio.” Jehan video-graphed the conversation between Shami and her.
