Paswan backs Sushma

lok Janshakti Party head and Union Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Ram Vilas Paswan defended senior BJP leader and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is facing a storm over lalitgate controversy. The support from NDA ally lok Janashakti Party leader, at this juncture and ahead of Bihar Assembly polls, is significant to the 13-month-old BJP Government, which is clouded in a storm over lalit Modi controversy.

Addressing a mediapersons in Bengaluru on Friday, he  came to offer full support to Sushama Swaraj and toed the BJP line in supporting Sushma but not very vocal in rescuing Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. He said, ‘’We have to see why the Minister (Sushma Sawaraj ) helped lalit Modi as it was a humanitarian gesture. The Congress is launching a tirade against BJP leader who is known for her clean image. But if you ask me the same question about Rajasthan Chief Minister, I have little to say as the lJP is a partner in the NDA”.

Paswan further defended the External Affairs Minister by saying one should give credence to what Sushma Swaraj had to say on the issue as she acted on the scam-ridden former IPl chief lalit Modi seeking to travel to Portugal to visit his ailing wife.Paswan said his party will stand behind Swaraj and alleged that the Opposition was out to damage the clean image of the NDA Government. ‘’Can you pick a single complaint of corruption against any BJP leader in the Union Government or its allies after NDA completed one year rule recently. We will stand by the Government’s decision in this matter,’’ he said.Paswan also felt that the Rajasthan Chief Minister acted in good faith but he was not very vocal in defending her.
