In a clear case of executive bias, the Birbhum district police on Sunday arrested Parui BJP leader Sadai Sheikh in connection with the last month’s bombing on police vehicles, sources said adding three ruling Trinamool Congress leaders were, however, allowed to roam free.
Sheikh a strong leader in Parui block who had migrated to the BJP from Trinamool recently was arrested from Muhammad Bazar area of Birbhum.Curiously, almost in tandem with Sheikh’s arrest alleged Trinamool workers attacked BJP houses in nearby villages of Jadavpur, sources said alleging many houses were torched by the Trinamool goons.“While Sadai Sheikh was arrested on frivolous charges because he is a BJP leader the Trinamool leaders Mustafa, Mustaq and Nurul charged with murder and arson were left alone” district BJP president Dudhkumar Mandal said adding soon after the arrest of Sadai BJP houses were set on fire by the Trinamool men.
Meanwhile, violence at Parui block on Sunday spread to neighbouring Sadaipur block sources said adding three houses at Sahapur village were torched by alleged Trinamool men.
